This combination is primarily used in maize crops for effective control of a wide range of weeds, including both grassy and broadleaf weeds. It effectively controls annual weeds that compete with the crop, keeping the field weed-free and promoting better crop growth and development. It is considered one of the best herbicide solutions for maize cultivation.

Mode of Action

Topramezone 33.6% SC is an HPPD (Hydroxyphenylpyruvate Dioxygenase) inhibitor herbicide. It blocks the HPPD enzyme within weed plants, which is essential for tyrosine degradation and plastoquinone synthesis. Plastoquinone plays a vital role in the formation of chlorophyll and carotenoids.

When HPPD is inhibited, carotenoid production stops, leading to chlorophyll degradation and whitening (bleaching) of weed leaves. This eventually causes the weeds to die. Topramezone is highly effective against both grassy and broadleaf weeds.
